Keisha Turner
Driven by her passion for athletics, yoga and human movement Keisha created AHLETICYOGIS™ after experiencing first hand how yoga benefited both her physical and mental game as an elite athlete. Keisha has played competitive volleyball for over 12 years and started practicing yoga at the age of 16, she played varsity volleyball for the Saint Mary’s University Huskies from 2007 to 2011, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Using yoga as a way to stay focused under pressure and stretch out, she was able to increase her speed and reaction time on the court, recover quicker after competition and attributes her athletic success as a top CIS volleyball player to her balance of strength and conditioning training and consistent yoga practice. During her third and fourth year as a Husky she lead the AUS conference in performance as Libero and was ranked first in the country (CIS). Over the course of her time at university Keisha became an ISSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Certified Yoga Instructor and NCCP Level II Volleyball Coach. After graduating, she went on to be an assistant coach for the varsity Huskies for 3 years while building the ATHLETICYOGIS™ brand. Combining her sport specific approach to yoga and experience as an athlete, Keisha designs all of the ATHLETICYOGIS™ yoga programs by researching players athletic movement, risk of injury and what they require mentally to be successful. Keisha has worked with hundreds of elite and professional athletes and has become Canada’s most notable athletic Yoga Coach.
